THE ASK
Oglethorpe University, a private liberal arts college located in Brookhaven, GA, called on me to write, produce, and direct a pair of 90-second videos promoting and explaining the advantages of its Adult Degree Program.
THE EXECUTION
The first concept I pitched revolved around the use of kinetic text and a series of cinematic jib and aerial shots of Oglethorpe’s pristine, Hogwarts-esque campus. It’s a simple execution with straightforward, conversational messaging.
I also pitched a more humorous concept which portrayed the Adult Degree Program as a superior option to similar programs offered by for-profit online universities. Inspired by the Goofus & Gallant cartoons from the classic children’s magazine Highlights, the video follows a set of twin sisters who take drastically different approaches to their higher education.
THE RESULTS
The videos were featured on the university’s website, with cut-down versions used in paid campaigns across its social media channels. The client reported a significant uptick in engagement and click-through to its site.
